Suspect In Casino Stabbing Caught In University Place
Karl Brownell is suspected of robbing a woman and stabbing a man at the Emerald Queen Casino in Fife.
UNIVERSITY PLACE, WA - Pierce County deputies this week arrested a man suspected of robbing a woman and stabbing a man at the Emerald Queen Casino in Fife. Karl Brownell was caught in University Place in a stolen car, according to police.
Brownell allegedly stole money from a woman in a wheelchair at the casino. Another casino patron, Richard Pederson, witnessed the robbery and decided to confront Brownell, according to Crime Stoppers of Tacoma-Pierce County. Brownell allegedly stabbed Pederson, who survived but was seriously wounded.
Following up on Crime Stoppers tips, deputies spotted Brownell getting into a car with a woman in University Place. He was taken into custody on charges of second-degree assault and third-degree theft, according to Crime Stoppers.
