The NFL Wants you to be Aware of Breast Cancer, why?

If you've been watching NFL games lately, you'll have noticed lots of pink on the players. (If you haven't been watching, you're obviously not a real American, so go back to your own country; unlike us, you probably have a functioning government.)  Anyway, the pink shoes and patches are because the NFL is big into Breast Cancer Awareness Month during which we’re all supposed to do two things: 1) be aware of breast cancer, and 2) buy pink NFL merchandise.  The league says, quote “a portion of the proceeds” will go to cancer research, so you should feel good about spending your hard-earned money for a pink jersey.  But according to Business Insider magazine, of any 100 clams you spend on NFL cancer awareness stuff, only 5 go to the American Cancer Society while 45 of those dollars go to the coffers of the NFL, not known to do a lot of cancer research.  I suppose that's better than nothing but when you see how the league has been patting itself on the back for its efforts, you might be inclined to question their sincerity.  Meanwhile, Chicago Bears wide receiver Brandon Marshall wanted to wear green shoes during a game for Mental Illness Awareness week and was told he would be banned from the field and then later, that he would be allowed to play but fined heavily if he did.  not because the NFL is in favor of mental illness; it's just they hadn't figured out how to make a buck off its “awareness”

.........and that’s the way the ball bounces.
