Therapy Dog Stolen From Tacoma Man's Yard: Report

A Tacoma man with diabetes and multiple sclerosis is searching for his stolen therapy dog.

TACOMA, WA - A South Tacoma man's therapy dog was recently stolen from his yard, and he desperately wants to find the pet. Drew McNickle's puppy, Jade, was stolen from his backyard in April, he told KOMO News. He was training the dog to detect when his blood sugar was too low - he suffers from diabetes and multiple sclerosis.

McNickle is offering up to a $1,000 reward for the return of Jade, who is under 6 months old. The dog is described as a "blue" pit bull with a white star on her forehead. The dog weighs between 15 and 50 pounds and was last seen wearing a black nylon collar. Jade with stolen from McNickle's home in South Tacoma near 56th and South Pine Street, south of the Tacoma Mall.

McNickle was in the process of training Jade to scratch his leg when his blood sugar drops below 60, according to KOMO.

"She can smell the difference in the chemicals in my body and she could alert me," he told KOMO.
