A University Place couple checked their Hit 5 ticket on Saturday, November 29 and realized they won $290,000. The winners purchased their ticket from Zip Mart (522 S 38th St.) in Tacoma. This marks their second big lottery win, the first being a $20,000 Scratch prize from 2005. “We didn’t think we’d win again,” they told officials at the Olympia Regional Office.

The two plan to use their winnings to help others. “We plan to donate to our church and help family members with medical expenses.” The couple also plans to set some money aside for a personal treat. “We are going to get a new paint job for our ’92 Cadillac.”
Longtime Washington’s Lottery players, the couple claims to have no real secret behind their luck. “We do not have a set of numbers we always use, or a lucky charm, but we’re thrilled to have won again and happy to be able to give to our church and family.”
