University Place Will Receive Money To Improve Bridgeport
The Puget Sound Regional Council selected the project as one of several to receive federal funding this week.

SEATTLEΒ β University Place will receive $642,307 for Bridgeport Way West improvements via action this week by the Puget Sound Regional Council.Β
βHelping communities secure federal transportation funding is one of the key roles of the PSRC,β said PSRC President and Kitsap County Commissioner Josh Brown. βThis project rose to the top on its merits and can not only deliver improvements for the future, but help grow jobs in the near term.β
The University Placeβs Bridgeport Way (phase 5 improvements) project will build curbs, gutters, planter strips, sidewalks, and bicycle lanes, as well as storm drainage, streetlights and other improvements along the roadway. Β Β Β

PSRCΒ develops policies and coordinates decisions about regional growth, transportation and economic development planning within King, Pierce, Snohomish and Kitsap counties. The Council is composed of over 80 entities, including all four counties, cities and towns, ports, state and local transportation agencies and tribal governments within the region. In 2012,Β PSRCΒ will select projects for the roughly $400 million in federal funds the region can expect to receive over the next few years.Β
