UP Sergeant Injured During SWAT Training Exercise

UPDATE: UP Police Chief Mike Blair told Patch that the SergeantΒ was heading into a simulated active hot zone at the drillΒ when he was thrown against a support bar. He tore his quad muscle off of his left leg.

A surgery is scheduled forΒ Thursday. As for when he will return to work, Blair said they should know tomorrow.

A University Place sergeant is in the hospital after sustaining injuries during a trainingΒ exerciseΒ for the Pierce County SWAT team, UP Police Chief Mike Blair told Patch.

The group is reportedly practicingΒ an active shooter drill in Eatonville today.Β
