Vandals, Thieves Targeting University Place City Property

City officials are reporting multiple incidents where people have either damaged or stolen city property.

UNIVERSITY PLACE, WA — University Place officials are warning residents to be on the lookout for anyone stealing or vandalizing city property.

In recent days, people have stolen wire from utility poles, and dug up utility boxes, also to steal wire. The incidents have happened along Cirque Drive, Bridgeport Way, 40th Street West, and Alameda Avenue.

"These incidents have caused significant damage and caused lighting outages throughout the city," officials said in a Facebook post on Friday.

University Place police are stepping up patrols. But if you see anyone supsicious digging on city property, call 911.
