VIEWFINDER: University Place Students, Superintendent and Public Works Honored

The first few minutes of Monday's University Place City Council meeting was all warm and fuzzy.

Officials say it's deservedly so.

The City Council honored a bevy of people Monday night. First, it recognized the achievements of, as Patch first reported, Curtis High students and musicans who will perform at Carnegie Hall in New York.

Second, the City Council recognized the efforts of University Place Superintendent who was recently named the state's Superintendent of the Year. She has made huge strides, Councilman and former UP School Board member Kent Keel said, in increasing student achievement in the classroom.

Finally, the City Council recognized the efforts of its public works team, which worked tirelessly during the recent keeping roads clear and storm drains clean.
