OPINION, VIEWFINDER: UP Community Supported Parks and Rec Celebrates Fundraiser in Style

More than 100 people attended the fund-raising gala for the group that supports the community's parks and rec programs.

It was a night to remember and everyone enjoyed themselves at the 2nd Annual Black Tie Celebration Dinner and Dance, Saturday Feb. 4, hosted by the UP Community Supported Parks and Recreation - a nonprofit organization.

With more than 100 people attending the fundraising gala, women were dressed to the nines and men looked dapper in suites and tuxes. All in attendance enjoyed socializing with their friends and were eager to raise money for a great cause.  This year’s gala doubled in size from the prior year and was a great success.  Through the silent and live auction we were able to fund three programs for the University Place Parks & Recreation including youth golf, youth art camp and by providing ongoing scholarships for underserved youth.

UP Community Supported Parks and Recreation is a non-profit organization which provides scholarship opportunities to the underserved youth and senior citizens in our community. We also provide a variety of fundraising events during the year to enhance community participation, offer opportunities for the young and old alike to enjoy and provide a chance to know our neighboring businesses. Events vary from a Roundtable Pizza Takeover, Bowling for Parks & Rec, Get Local Business Fest to a BBQ in the Curran Apple Orchard. Contact Patty Mannie, Marketing Manager today at 253-208-0135 and ask how your business can sponsor an event or how you can participate.
