Voter Turnout In Pierce County Strong So Far
After six days of ballot returns, turnout in the 2018 midterm is looking like a presidential election year.

UNIVERSITY PLACE, WA - Congratulations, Pierce County voters - it looks like you're invested in the 2018 midterm election.
According to figures released Monday by Pierce County, about 92,000 ballots have been return so far. That's almost double the number returned on this day during the 2014 election, and just slightly behind this during the 2016 and 2012 elections - both presidential election years.

Typically, elections officials see a surge in ballots on Election Day and the day before. Ballots can continue to pour in up to two weeks after the election.
There are also more people registered in Pierce County this year than in past elections. As of Monday, about 491,000 people were registered - up from 443,000 in 2012. The Pierce County Auditor reported long lines on Monday, the last day to register to vote in-person.
