West Pierce's Kilga Finishes Ninth In Seattle Stairclimb

A member of finished ninth out of some 1,550 firefighters in the Scott Firefighter Stairclimb fundraiser today in Seattle.

Peter Kilga, 38, climbed the steps of the Columbia Center – Seattle’s tallest building – in 13 minutes, seven seconds.

That’s 1,311 steps, or 788 feet, in a mere 13 minutes, all while donning some 80 pounds of firefighter gear.

The top finisher in the 20^th annual event, which benefits The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, was Kory Burgess of Missoula (MT) Rural Fire at 10 minutes, 53 seconds. He has won the competition twice before.

The other West Pierce Fire & Rescue competitor to finish in the Top 10 was Adam Dockstader, who finished 92^nd overall at 15 minutes, 33 seconds.
