Twin Towers Artifact Brought Back By West Pierce Team to be Dedicated

Ceremony to honor steel piece scheduled for 6 p.m. on Oct. 18.

A dedication ceremony is planned Oct. 18 for the artifact from the World Trade Center awarded to West Pierce Fire & Rescue.

The fire district, which covers Lakewood and University Place, was the fourth in the South Sound to receive an artifact from the Twin Towers, which fell on Sept. 11, 2001.

The public is invited to attend the 6 p.m. ceremony, which will be held in conjunction with a regularly scheduled commissioner's meeting. Station 31 is located at 3631 Drexler Drive West in University Place.

After the dedication, the artifact will stay on display at the station.
