You Can Now Call It The University Place Veterans Plaza

The group behind the structure at Cirque Drive and Bridgeport Way West opted against calling it a "memorial," as the monument will honor any veteran. It will install an American Flag at the site this Veterans Day.

The University Place Veterans Memorial is getting a new name!

After thoughtful consideration, we decided to change the name of the site to the University Place Veterans Plaza. The change was necessary because, the term “memorial” refers to a place or monument for those who have passed. Our purpose of the plaza is to celebrate veterans who have passed and those who are still with us. When completed, the plaza will serve as a daily reminder to visitors that as a community we are grateful; and salute the commitment of the men and women who have served in the military services of our great country and to the families and community who supported them.

To kick off the beginning of construction of the plaza and raise awareness, we will be installing the American Flag and flag pole on the site on Veterans Day, Nov. 11. The plaza is located at the corner of Cirque and Bridgeport Way West, next to Precision Tune Auto Care. Please join us in making this occasion special!
