21 Acres: Backyard Chickens

Fresh eggs are the best!  Chickens are a fun, easy way to grow your
own food.  Come learn the chicken-keeping basics from the Seattle
Chicken Sitter, Meghan Tenhoff. She will discuss proper habitat and diet
for every stage of life, caring for baby chicks to layers, breed
selection, and basic health.  Meghan will also bring a few of her own
hens for a hands-on chicken checkup.

Instructor: Meghan Tenhoff

Meghan and her husband developed an interest in backyard chickens
after purchasing their first home. In addition to wanting to grow their
own food for their family, they explored opportunities to have fresh
eggs. With the help of Backyardchickens.com they choose a breed, built a
coop, and started their own backyard flock, eventually inspiring
Meghan's business, Seattle Chicken Sitter, providing care for chickens
whose owners are out of town or unavailable.
