Anyone walking or biking the Slough in the last couple of weeks has probably noticed that Woodinville's iconic poplar trees along the Sammamish River Trail do not look healthy. A heavy wind a couple of weeks ago deposited a large number of dried brown leaves; unnatural for early spring.
KING 5 TV ran an article on May 15th about a bacterial infection affecting Lombardy Poplar trees along the Fremont Cut. It would appear that our poplar trees are infected as well.
This bacterial and largely airborne disease has no cure and is quick and fatal to the trees.
Aside from KING 5's article no other mention has been made of this issue. Are there others in our community who have observed these symptoms?
