How to create  a more walkable downtown Woodinville?

That’s on Tuesday’s City Council agenda, opening a public hearing on how to make downtown more pedestrian friendly. For details, check here.

Also on the agenda, the council will hear the first reading of a revised code of ethics, making the city’s code consistent with state law and current labor practices.

Ordinance No.  528 proposes to make the following changes to WMC 2.36:

1.  Eliminates the $10 limit on gifts that city officials/employees may accept [see 2.36.020(3)];

2.  Adds  violations  of   State  Ethics  Laws  (RCW  42.20:  Misconduct  of   Public  Officials;  RCW 42.23:  Code  of   Ethics  for  Municipal  Officials;  and  RCW  42.36:  Appearance  of   Fairness Doctrine) to the City's Ethics Code [see 2.36.020(16) & (17)];

3.  Establishes that required disclosure of potential conflicts may be made orally at City Council Meetings [see 2.36.030]

4.  Clarifies  that  ethics  allegations,  violations,  and  discipline  by  City  employees  are  under the purview of  the City Manager [see 2.36.040(2);  2.36.050(1)&(2);  2.36.060(1)&(9)];

5.  Clarifies that  penalties  can  be  criminal  and  civil  [see  2.36.040(1)]  and  specifies two  possible political  penalties for violations by City Council members [see 2.36.040(4)]. The amendments proposed in Ordinance No.  528 are completely separate from offers by individual council members to redraft the entire City Ethics Code.
