Big Fish Grill is Ready to Feed Woodinville

The new restaurant's grand opening is June 24, but it's open now.

Driving by Big Fish Grill in downtown Woodinville, you would never know the building was once a restaurant. The change is more than cosmetic. Big Fish Grill is not a big corporate chain; it’s a family run business eager to be part of the Woodinville community.

“We researched a finding a new location for about a year,” said co-owner Carrie Orrico. “We would come in to Woodinville and get great feedback from people we talked to that there was a need for another restaurant.”

Carrie owns the eatery with husband Kevin, they are the team behind the success of Big Fish Grill in Kirkland. The Woodinville restaurant is proving to be a family affair with the Orrico’s son Joe acting as manager. Carrie said the menu is designed to appeal to families as well as couple looking for a night out alone.

“We want everyone to come in and feel welcome; we’ve priced the menu so the entire community can come,” she said.

Dinner entrees range in price from $10 to $29 and there is a large appetizer and salad menu with items that could easily be a main course (see the PDF attached to this story).

There is nothing left of the old hamburger joint that was Ruby’s, the Orrico’s have transformed that chain’s 1930s décor to a modern stylish restaurant, warming the dining room with rich wood tones that are more in line with Pacific Northwest architecture than nostalgic hamburger stand (but for those who still need a burger, there are several choices on Big Fish’s menu).

An impressive wood bar dominates the new lounge area; Carrie said in addition to the regular happy hour, they also have the increasingly popular 9 p.m. happy hour.

The restaurant’s grand opening is slated for June 24, but the Carrie said a trial run earlier this week went so well, they decide to stay open. Big Fish Grill, 13706 NE 175th Street, opens at 11 a.m. daily, happy hour from 3-6 p.m. and again from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m.
