A Week In The Life Of A Woodinville Homeschooler

In a homeschoolers life there is no typical day. It's always varied from day to day, and from week to week. I might have to get up early for finance class one day, and the next day stay out late for a rehearsal. There are things I do once a month, like volunteering at the local senior center, and participating the Redmond Police Explorers. And there are a few things I do every week like science class and guitar. I also babysit almost every week. Since I love acting, a couple times a year I will audition for shows and the rehearsals are often a few times a week.

The great thing about homeschooling is that I came up with my own schedule which means everything I do, I want to do. I have a lot of interests I want to pursue, so I made my schedule busy and full, with a lot of interesting classes. I have a calendar which I look at as much as possible but still since my schedule is so busy sometimes I don't know whether I am coming or going. Luckily my mom knows everything in my schedule and when that happens I ask her.

I do schoolwork on most days, which includes math, writing and history. Though every family does things differently, in my case my mom and I will meet once a week to go over my schoolwork and she will give me assignments which I will complete throughout the week. I like that I don't have a set time every day to do schoolwork because I have classes, and things to do and it would be difficult. Also it's nice because on days I have a lot to do, and we are not home, I won't get much done, but I can look at my calendar in the beginning of the week and fit schoolwork into my schedule. In addition to doing schoolwork at home, I will also do chores, play piano, invite a friend over, watch TVor go on Facebook.

This is just what my typical week looks like, but every homeschooling family is different. What is really cool about homeschooling is you can adapt it to what your need and wants are.
