Dollars & Sense: What Would You Wish Away in Woodinville?

If a fairy in a forest granted you one wish, what would you change about Woodinville?

You've heard the story - finding a fairy in a forest who grantsΒ wishes.

I recently took my granddaughterΒ on a hike in theΒ woods near Crystal Lake. It's just two, maybe threeΒ minutesΒ from our front door, butΒ withinΒ seconds thoseΒ local woodsΒ become an alternate world. It might as well be the nationalΒ forest surroundingΒ Rainier forΒ the grandeur, isolation and splendor the casual walk produced.

Princess Aurora and I did not find a fairy. But in the woods I did consider a wish - what if I could change one thing aboutΒ Woodinville?

We live or work here because of the things we like and even love about the area. OurΒ neighbors, our jobs, the vistas, the parks, the wineries, local merchants, etc.

Consider for a minute the opposite. The thing youΒ hate most. The thing that drives you crazy. Gets under your skin. RubsΒ you the wrong way in Woodinville.

I have heard some say traffic.Β Roads.Β Tourists.Β Big retailers. Developers. Signs. City Hall. Local Politics. Now let me hear from you.

What one thing would you change hereΒ with a wish from a fairy in a forest?

(This is a series ofΒ posts exploringΒ a future vision for our community, in particular local businesses and what they offer the residents of Woodinville, Bothell, Kirkland, Redmond and Duvall.)
