God, Us and Time

More thoughts on "time" in the New Year!

We think about time from within the time continuum. God is both within, and without time, since He is its creator (see yesterday’s blog.) If we are on page 2012 of the history book, God is outside the book and can turn to any page, but can also be actively within each page and, therefor, is ever-present.

An Irish Priest wrote: β€œJesus lived totally in the present.Β He was open to the emerging moment.Β We may think that being new is something for the future, that the next year will be new, even the next day. But nothing can be new except the now. It’s exciting to be able to live like that.”

If we are called to β€œfollow Jesus,” perhaps we need to view β€œnewness” differently – and be fully alive to each emerging moment, knowing that God is fully present as our source of life, love and wisdom. And, as His children we can,Β without arrogance,Β be available as His agentsΒ extending HisΒ life, love and wisdom to those we encounter each and every day. What a magnificent journey!! What a magnificent God.
