Local Online Auction to Benefit Suicide Prevention

Local mom hosts Stop Suicide Online Auction to benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

Suicide.

Every 14 minutes someone takes their own life, most often due to untreated mental illness.Β

It’s heartbreaking and it’s hard to think about. But in order to stop suicide we must think about it, talk about it, and advocate for better mental health care and suicide prevention education.

TheΒ American Foundation for Suicide PreventionΒ (AFSP) is an organization dedicated to preventing suicide across the country with research, education and lobbying for mental health and suicide prevention legislation. In fact, on April 15 Suicide Prevention Bill ESHB 1336 was passed within Washington State and is headed to the Governor's office for signature, in no small part due to the lobbying efforts of dedicated citizen volunteers of the AFSP.

As a fighter of mental illness myself and also a survivor of suicide loss, I know that even though its such a difficult topic, its vitally important to talk openly about suicide. To take action. To work within our states to bring policy change with the help of organizations like the AFSP.

Right now, I’m raising funds to do the AFSP National Overnight Walk in DC as part of the AFSP Washington State Chapter. Its a 16-mile walk in our nation’s capital to benefit suicide prevention. I’m hosting aΒ Stop Suicide Online Charity AuctionΒ to help raise donations. 100% of tax-deductible winning bids will go directly to the AFSP. Several local companies have donated products and services including Morning Star School and the Nest in Woodinville. Bidding is open now and will end Saturday April 20 at 2pm PT. Please visit, bid and share.Β
