These Tragedies Must Stop, One Way or Another

Ok, so I know you all know by now the tragedy that has struck the country.

20 children dead, 6 adults dead in an elementary school. This is despicable.

I don’t know about you, but I remember elementary school as a place of safety and learning. Somewhere I was always secure. Even as I grew older and went to junior high and even high school, school was always a place of security and safety.

This is something we never saw coming. Not just this shooting, but all the ones we’ve seen. There have been more shootings in the past 6 months than I’ve ever heard of in my whole life.

This is a serious issue, America, and we need to something about it. We need gun control.

Now, before you get all righteous on me, listen. I agree that it is ok and a constitutional right to bear arms. But it is not ok to be selling and buying automatic machine guns or whatever to regular citizens. Like seriously, what, is the raccoon in your yard going to shoot back at you? Is the poor deer you’re hunting going to use karate on you? You do not need such incredibly dangerous guns in your possession. We do not need to have guns designed for killing lots of people fast in gun or hunting stores. I’m pretty sure it’s still illegal to hunt people, although these days it’s hard to tell.

You know, I used to think that the second amendment wasn’t important. It was just one of those amendments the founding fathers put in because of their situation and didn’t affect us. But now it does. We as a nation need to decide just how far bearing arms can go. These shootings cannot continue. But they will if we don’t do something right now. We need to limit the guns that are sold to regular citizens. I don’t care if it’s legal in Texas or wherever to shoot someone trespassing on your property, which honestly is really stupid and weird. But we cannot allow people to keep going ballistic and shooting a bunch of people, especially children.

I say we need to sell only non automatic guns. If you can’t hit that deer in one shot it’s gone anyway, so sucks for you. We need a harsh penalty for selling such illegal guns, like 50 years in jail or something. And for those of you who say automatics are good for self defense, if the other guy doesn’t have an automatic, you can get him while he’s reloading. By the time you both have gotten one maybe two shots at each other, the police will be there to take care of it. Done, over, you’re safe, case closed.

The point here is that this could turn into a big controversial issue but why should it? We are Americans, since when has an attack on our citizens turned us against each other? Oh, yeah, every time since like, ever. Seriously, guys, gun control is the only way we can stop these tragedies from continuing to happen. Let’s band together and make it work instead of fighting each other about taking away rights like we always do.

Seriously though, no one’s going to take away your right to shoot a raccoon who’s in your yard and probably looks a little sketchy, even though it's just a freaking raccoon, get over it.
