REMINDER: Creme Tangerine Sings the Beatles at DeYoung Park Thursday
The Kirkland-based Beatles cover band will play at noon Thursday.
The fab five? OK, so Crème Tangerine has one more band member than the Beatles, the band they’ll salute in the noon concert at Thursday, Aug. 11.
Over the years the band has gained quite a reputation for re-creating both the sounds and the craze of the Beatles.
In 2009, former Beatles manager Ken Mansfield came to Seattle in collaboration with Crème Tangerine to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the Beatles' last concert, known as the Rooftop Concert, an impromptu event on the roof of London's Apple records on January 30, 1969. In a re-creation of the event on the balcony of the Copacabana Cafe in Pike Place Market, Creme Tangerine played the same songs in the same order for a crowd of thousands on January 30, 2009. In 2010, Creme Tangerine and Mansfield did it again, and Governor Christine Gregoire named January 29, 2010 "Creme Tangerine Seattle Beatles Rooftop Day."
