Dr. Guan-Cheng Sun, founder of the Bothell-based Institute
of Qigong and Integrative Medicine (IQ&IM), will be lead speaker at a free
public program in Woodinville at 7 p.m. Friday, April 11.
He will share how his grand uncle began teaching him qigong (pronounced
“chee-gung”) when he was a 9-year-old growing up in rural China, and how his
training continued as he earned his PhD in molecular genetics. Dr. Sun went on
to develop Yi Ren Medical Qigong and to become a leading medical qigong
researcher who has done work on type 2 diabetes, chronic pain and cancer.
Also speaking and leading some sample Yi Ren Qigong exercises
will be Yi Ren certified instructor Barbara Brachtl, who blogs at www.qifrontier.com.

Qigong is a traditional Chinese energy practice combining
movement, breathing and meditation. Yi Ren Qigong exercises are designed to
move qi, or life energy, through the various energy centers, organs and
acupuncture meridians of the body to promote health and well-being.
The April 11 event in Woodinville is part of the series of
monthly public gatherings IQ&IM hosts throughout the greater Seattle area.
