WOODINVILLE, WA - A dog bit state Senate candidate Jinyoung Lee Englund while she was out campaigning on Sunday, according to her Facebook page. Englund said that a pit bull bit her hand while she was ringing doorbells.
"It was incredibly frightening and I would like to thank Bruce, someone I had just met, for giving me a ride to the ER, the team at EvergreenHealth and Scott, a member of my team, for their help in making sure I'm OK," Englund wrote in a Facebook post.
Englund, a Republican, is facing off against Democrat Manka Dhingra for the 45th Legislative District seat. The winner will determine which political party will control the state Senate. The 45th District covers Redmond, Kirkland, Woodinville, Duvall, and parts of Sammamish.

The seat became vacant nearly a year ago when Republican Andy Hill died of cancer. Dino Rossi, who is gearing up for a run to replace U.S. Rep. Dave Reichert, is in the seat in the interim. Englund finished second to Dhingra in the August primary.
