Duvall Heritage Festival Happens Saturday

The Duvall Heritage Festival is Saturday, Sept. 29 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the historic Dougherty House and Farmstead.

Duvall will play host for a day of hands-on fun, learning, and reminiscing atย the Duvall Heritage Festival on Saturday, Sept. 29 from 10 a.m. to 4ย p.m. Located at the historic Dougherty House and Farmstead at 26526ย NE Cherry Valley Road in Duvall, this festival is free and open to the public.

Following are just some of the activities:

  • Enjoy traditional drumming performed by the Snoqualmieย Tribe, a culture that has been present in the Puget Sound region forย generations.
  • Be a pioneer! Shell corn, make cider, braid rope, churn butter, andย wash clothes the old fashioned way. Watch a blacksmith, learn aboutย logging, sit on antique tractors, and watch a team of mules plow aย field.
  • Shake hands with Duvallโ€™s first mayor elected in 1913, and visit withย other figures from the early 1900โ€™s (All played by very convincingย actors).
  • Kick up your heels and dance to traditional dance music performed byย Tinkerโ€™s Dram, or tap your toes in time to tunes by the Novelty Hillย Ramblers, a longtime local band. You can also relax to Snoqualmieย Valley folk music and stories by Bob Antone.
  • Tour the Dougherty Farmstead, a National Landmark that includes aย well-preserved example of a late 19th century farmhouse built one yearย prior to Washingtonโ€™s statehood. Antique quilts will also be onย display at the Dougherty House, as well as at the 11th Annual Duvallย Quilt Show on historic Main Street in downtown Duvall, a separateย event happening that same day. Guided tours of the restored loggingย bunk house, milk house, and old tool display, will also be available.
  • And donโ€™t forget to take a peek at the pioneer cemetery locatedย nearby.

Complimentary parking isย available at Holy Innocents Catholic Church just east of the Doughertyย Farmstead on Cherry Valley Road. Handicapped parking is available onย site. A free shuttle will transport visitors from Duvallโ€™s Main Street
to the Heritage Festival.
