Eagle Falls Drowning Victim Not From Woodinville: Police
The 24-year-old man went swimming near Eagle Falls on Memorial Day.

WOODINVILLE, WA - The 24-year-old man who drowned on Memorial Day near Eagle Falls is not from Woodinville, as police had initially thought. The man, who has not yet been identified, is from Monroe.
After disappearing Monday, Snohomish County authorities later found the man's body in deep water about 50 yards upriver from Eagle Falls. Located along the South Fork of the Skykomish River, Eagle Falls is one of the state's most popular swimming areas.
Police are warning that rivers and lakes are still running very cold at this point in the season.

"Swimming in Snohomish County rivers, especially near waterfalls, is not recommended due to swift currents, hidden snags/drop-offs and cold water temperatures, even for those who consider themselves to be strong swimmers," sheriff's spokeswoman Shari Ireton said in a press release.
Two other people have drowned in local waterways this year. In late April, a 30-year-old woman was found dead at Wallace Falls State Park. A 22-year-old woman from Monroe died April 12 at Cedar Ponds Lake south of Sultan.
