
Bud grafting techniques can be used when creating young espalier structured trees, buds can be placed in specific locations. Traditional grafting techniques are used during the dormant season, bud grafting occurs during the growing season. The Bud Grafting Workshop will take place from 10 a.m. to Noon- Greg Giulian...i, a local fruit tree grafting instructor, will demonstrate techniques to summer graft the varieties of fruit that you want to grow. After Giuliani’s introductory lecture, you’ll also get hands-on practice with field trees on the Farm followed by Q and A.
The Summer Pruning Workshop will take place from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.- Larry Davis, a Master Gardener and twenty year member of the Seattle Tree Fruit Society, teaches almost every weekend on fruit growing techniques. Davis will present information and theories on summer pruning and students will also get hands-on practice during this workshop in the afternoon.
