SEPAC Presentation: Special Guest, Shirley Paceley, to Discuss 'Sexual Abuse: Intervention, Prevention & Response' for People with Disabilities

Developing Awareness, Staying Safe

People with disabilities experience greater rates of sexual assault and domestic violence than those without disabilities and often have less ability to communicate what is happening to them or to advocate for themselves.

SEPAC welcomes renowned speaker, Shirley Paceley, and advocate and survivor Mary Suggs, to discuss the myths around disability and abuse. During this session, they will discuss the dynamics of sexual abuse, providing strategies for prevention in addition to how to develop a thoughtful and effective response should sexual abuse occur. With a warm and down-to-earth presentation style, Paceley makes the unthinkable conversable and provides parents and teachers with the tools to improve awareness and to protect their children with special needs.
