I-405 Express Lane Change Planned Near Woodinville Next Week
WSDOT hopes the lane rearrangement will fix a notorious trouble spot between Woodinville and Bothell.

WOODINVILLE, WA - The Washington state Department of Transportation will attempt to fix a notoriously congested stretch of northbound I-405 between Woodinville and Bothell by adding a merging lane for express lane users. Next week, WSDOT will add a merging lane so northbound drivers can more easily exit the express lanes to get to the Canyon Park ares and SR 527.
The new merging lane will go in place between the Canyon Park exit and the 195th Street exit in Woodinville.

Before the upgrade goes into effect, WSDOT crews will have to, of course, paint the lanes. Here's what the state says to expect next week as far as construction:

"Next week, contractor crews will need to restripe all the lanes in this area between Northeast 195th Street and SR 527. During this work, I-405 will be reduced to one lane nightly between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. Please note that this work requires favorable weather conditions to complete the lane striping and wet weather could postpone the work. For the most up-to-date information regarding these closures, please visit the I-405 Construction Update page," reads a WSDOT blog post. "We expect that it may take drivers a little while to get used to the new access point. So be alert when you’re driving through the area, and get ready for the road to look a little different."
