Earthquake Strikes North Of Woodinville

Did you feel it? A magnitude 2.1 earthquake struck Tuesday afternoon north of Woodinville.

WOODINVILLE, WA - The Pacific Northwest Seismic Network (PNSN) is reporting that a magnitude 2.1 quake hit just north of Woodinville Tuesday afternoon. The quake happened around 1 p.m. just west of SR 9 near the intersection of 180th Street Southeast.

The initial report of magnitude 2.7 was later downgraded to a 2.1, according to PNSN.

According to earthquake records, Tuesday's quake is the first in recent history along SR 9 between Woodinville and Snohomish. In 1996, there was a magnitude 5.4 east of Duvall. There were 3.1 quakes measured in Bothell and Redmond in 1985 and 1983, plus a magnitude 3.3 at the mouth of the Sammamish River in Lake Forest Park in 1972.
