Mean Girls: ‘Finding Kind’ Film Explores Girl Bullying

Finding Kind, a documentary that explores the causes and possible solutions to bullying among teenage girls, is being presented by the Woodinville Firefighters Benevolent Fund on Thursday, May 10, at the .

Filmakers Lauren Parsekian and Molly Thompson said they made the film after meeting each other in college and finding out they both had unsettling tales from being bullied by other girls. They set out to make a film that exposed the behavior in girls and offer some solutions to ending the bullying.

In 2009 they set out across country to interview others about girl on girl bullying, the film is the result of that endeavor.

“Due to the nature of the subject and some strong language used intermittently throughout the film, I would not recommend this film for anyone under the age of 10,” said Greg Garat, one of the Woodinville firefighters organizing the showing. “My wife took my 10 year old to see it but we felt it was too much for my 8 year old.”

The film has garnered critical acclaim awards for its frank handling of girl bullying and has been shown across the nation by schools, civic groups and churches.
