NWDA is an artists group who transform weathered beach and forest wood into spectacular works of art using the LuRon method of treatment and sculpting. Most sculptures take over 100 hours to complete. There can be no carving, no foreign objects and sculptures cannot be “constructed.”
While the artist has freedom to guide the piece, the finished outcome must look as if nature designed it. Many are place in Seattle art galleries and other exhibitions through the year but this is the biggest and best chance to see the highest craftsmanship.
This method, now 50 years old is uniquely PNW. It is taught in several community centers in the area, including classes at the Northshore Senior Center.
Take a look at last year's stunning works and then come this weekend to see what has been created in 2013.
There will be hands on demos for you to give it a try, as well as raffles for sculpture, wearable art and a handcrafted flute. The event is free and family friendly!
