Powerball: $1 Million Ticket Purchased in Bothell

On Friday, June 7, 2013 a man from Kenmore claimed the $1 million second tier Powerball prize, according to a news release from Washington's Lottery. He matched all five numbers minus the Powerball number in the May 18 drawing for the record-breaking $600 million Powerball jackpot.

He purchased the winning ticket at the Sid’s Handy Mart on Meridian Avenue South in Bothell. This was the first time he’s ever purchased a Powerball ticket, although he usually plays Mega Millions and Lotto every Friday.

"I’ll be adding Powerball to the mix," he said in the news release.

He said, “My wife also couldn’t believe it. She kissed the ticket before I took it to the store, so she’ll be doing that every time now.

He and his wife plan to take a family vacation with their twin daughters and buy a new home with the prize. They’re also eager to set up college funds for both children and invest in their retirement, but plan to continue working.
