Sierra Nevada Recall: How To Check If Your Beer Is Affected

A code on the beer package tells you if the beer is part of the recall, Sierra Nevada says.

WOODINVILLE, WA - Sierra Nevada has recalled a number of its bottled beers over a packaging defect that could cause glass to end up inside the bottle. The recall, however, only affects beer produced in the brewer's North Carolina plant, and that means many West Coast drinkers may not be affected.

Sierra Nevada operates two major breweries: its original one in Chico, Calif., and a supplemental brewery in Mills River, North Carolina. Only beer produced in the Mills River plant is affected by the recall.

The company has not included Washington state on the list of places where the affected beers were distributed. But you can double-check by looking at the letter next to the "packaged on" stamp. If there's an M in that line, the beer is part of the recall. If you see a C1 or C2, the beer was made in Chico, and is not part of the recall.
