So What's on the City Council Agenda This Week?

Trying to determine if you should attend the council meeting Tuesday night? Here is an overview of what's on the agenda.

Woodinville City Council members will decide whether to adopt a six month moratorium on density credits, or incentives, on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at .

A what? A density incentive allows developers of residential lands to increase the number of housing units on a lot in exchange for public benefits, as defined by the city. The idea is to help the city achieve its Comprehensive Plan goals of affordable housing, open space protection, historic. Although these provisions have been in the Woodinville Municipal Code (WMC) for a number of years a recent review by city staff showed a number of potential problems including: lack of clarity or definition as to what is allowed, inconsistency with other WMC sections; inconsistency or conflict with other adopted goals and policies; and general and complexity of the regulations.

Which leads to another item on the agenda, state law requires the city to update Comprehensive Plan by December 1, 2014. The Comprehensive Plan is used to guide future development in Woodinville. The Council will be discussing and reviewing the plan for the next few months.
