So What's on the City Council Agenda This Week?

Trying to determine if you should attend the council meeting Tuesday night? Here is an overview of what's on the agenda. How to reach out to the public about city issues and adopting a way for council members to phone it in rather than attend the meetings

A plan on how to engage and inform the public on city business is on the City Council agenda Tuesday.

To get the word out on civic affairs council is considering ad hoc issue panels, information flyers sent with bills or in school district materials, briefings with community organizations, coffee chats and a host of other ways to inform the public.

Also on the agenda is adopting a policy that will allow a council member to attend a meeting without being physically present. The State Attorney General has taken the position that the Open Public Meetings Act allows local jurisdictions to permit participation of a councilmember at a meeting by electronic means, such as speakerphone or Internet video conferencing.
