Viewfinder: Sammamish Valley Arts Center, Open Studio

The Woodinville Center is a place for artists and amateurs alike.

The , 14525 148th Avenue NE,  holds drop-in studio art classes at the Apple Farm Village in Woodinville

Every Wednesday morning at , a group of artists gather for a live portrait session to practice their skills. This week I was lucky enough to be able to attend the session and watch everyone hard at work!

The models are local volunteers who sit for three hours, broken up into 20 minute segments. This week's model was Ron Baum, who has sat for this open studio session about 4 times now. (If interested in modeling please contact Barbara Kelson at barbara@applefarmvillage.com.) This week there were four attendees, Barbara Kelson, Ann Moore, Eden Hopkins, and Chloe Rees.

Barbara started the drop-in studio sessions about three years ago when local artists began expressing an interest in a space that they could meet and practice their arts together. Chloe has been attending regularly since the sessions began, as has Ann. Eden began attending in January 2010. Each session is $12, with a discount for Sammamish Valley Art Center members.

At the Woodinville City Hall from Febrary 28 to  March 31, there will be a showing of The Faces of Woodinville, with several pieces on display from the artists at the center.
