WHS Wrestling's History Making Season

The Woodinville High School Wrestling Team had an amazing State Tournament that will go done in school history! First time for several things this year: first time they ever sent five wrestlers to State (Feb. 18), three of those students were sophomores: Everett Bingisser, Zack Gracia and Ryan Christensen. Seniors included: Junior DeDios and Jacob Hollister.
It was the first time they ever had two guys in the finals, first time they ever got onto the top ten leader board, first time they placed as high as 11th place overall in State

It is the most participants that WHS has ever sent to the State Tournament in the school’s history. Placers were: Junior DeDios at the 120 pound weight class (taking a 8th place), Ryan Christensen at the 160 pound weight class (taking an impressive 2nd place) and Jacob Hollister at the 220 pound weight class (also with an impressive 2nd place victory).

This is also the first time in the school’s history that the team has ever had 2 wrestlers competing in the finals at the State Tournament. At one point WHS was in 10th place – it was the 1st time ever that Woodinville has had their name displayed on the leader board at the State Tournament in the school’s history.

It came down to the wire, but in the end, the team finished in 11th place overall being nudged out by Moss Lake for one of the coveted “top ten” spots. History in the making again, as this is the best overall team performance that Woodinville has ever displayed at State! Congrats to the entire Woodinville Falcon Wrestling team on a great season and a special congrats to the State placers: Junior, Ryan and Jake on a job well done!
