Woodinville Council to Choose New Mayor

The Woodinville City Council will vote in a new mayor at the Tuesday, Aug. 2 meeting to fill the spot by who announced his resignation July 26. Price accepted a new job that took him out of the area.

Under city law, a mayor is elected among council members by a simple majority. According to council rules of procedure, “If none of  the  nominees  receives  a majority  vote  of  the  entire  membership, those nominees  receiving the  most  votes will proceed to  a  run off vote,  until  one nominee  receives  a majority  vote  of  the  entire membership. If there is a tie vote between two or more nominees, those nominees shall proceed to a run. off vote  until  one  nominee  receives  more  votes  than  the  other nominees,  and  that  nominee  shall advance  in  the  process.”
