Woodinville Council to Choose New Mayor

Council members will vote a new mayor from their ranks at the Aug. 2 meeting

The Woodinville City Council will vote in a new mayor at the Tuesday, Aug. 2 meeting to fill the spot by who announced his resignation July 26. Price accepted a new job that took him out of the area.

Under city law, a mayor is elected among council members by a simple majority. According to council rules of procedure, β€œIf none ofΒ  theΒ  nomineesΒ  receivesΒ  a majorityΒ  voteΒ  ofΒ  theΒ  entireΒ  membership, those nomineesΒ  receiving theΒ  mostΒ  votes will proceed toΒ  aΒ  run off vote,Β  untilΒ  one nomineeΒ  receivesΒ  a majorityΒ  voteΒ  ofΒ  theΒ  entire membership. If there is a tie vote between two or more nominees, those nominees shall proceed to a run. off voteΒ  untilΒ  oneΒ  nomineeΒ  receivesΒ  moreΒ  votesΒ  thanΒ  theΒ  other nominees,Β  andΒ  thatΒ  nomineeΒ  shall advanceΒ  inΒ  theΒ  process.”
