Woodinville Police Catch Crooks in the Act, Thursday

The keen eye of Woodinville police officer Jim Donner resulted in the arrest of two men, who broke into Professional Nail & Spa, 14235 NE Woodinville-Duvall Road, at around 1:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 20.

Officer Donner spotted a suspicious car in the shopping center parking lot. When he started looking into the closed businesses he saw a man inside the nail shop and called for back-up, according to Woodinville Police Chief Sydney Jackson. 

When the men inside realized they were spotted, one crashed through the front door where Donner grabbed him and arrested him. The other man took off out the back and into a car with the headlights blackened out, Jackson said. By then Officers from King County Sheriff’s had answered Donner’s call and followed the car which crashed in the parking lot. The driver was arrested.

The two men, one 30-years-old, the other is 41, are now in custody with King County Sheriff’s.

Jackson said there have been at least four other nail salons that have been burgled in the past two weeks, which is why she had an additional patrol out Thursday night. Jackson said it is being investigated whether the men arrested Thursday were responsible for any previous break-ins in Woodinville. The two men arrested had criminal records, including felony convictions, neither was from Woodinville.

“This was excellent police work, they both had long wrap sheets,” Jackson said.

An employee at the nail salon, who preferred to not give her name, said it was scary coming to work in the morning to find shattered glass in front of the shop and the back door broken. The doors and glass were repaired by early afternoon Thursday.
