Would-Be Thief Sleeping In Van Arrested, Woodinville Police Report

Woodinville police are saying that an alert citizen spotted the napping would-be burglar.

WOODINVILLE, WA - Woodinville police are thanking an alert Woodinville resident this morning after the resident spotted a suspicious man sleeping in a van. When police contacted the man, they found evidence that he was planning to break into local homes or cars. The man was arrested and brought to jail.

Police say they received a 911 call from a Woodinville resident about a person sleeping in a van. When police contacted the man, they found black gloves, a head lamp, a large screw driver, and a tool for breaking windows in his van.

The suspect was caught near the intersection of Northeast 185th Court and 144th Avenue Northeast, which is in a residential neighborhood near a number of wineries.

Police say the man had most likely fallen asleep after using heroin, and they suspect he was planning to break into cars or homes to support his addiction. The suspect was booked into jail on an outstanding warrant out of Marysville, according to Woodinville police.
