• Orange Shirt Day in Toppenish remembers Indigenous boarding school students (yakimaherald.com) — A remembrance event in nearby Toppenish is prompting Yakima County residents to reflect on the painful legacy of Indigenous boarding schools once located in North Yakima and Fort Simcoe. Local schools and colleges across the Yakima Valley marked Orange Shirt Day, honoring survivors, lost children, and the Yakama language and traditions that community members are working to preserve and heal through today.
