Kanawha County schools step up for families after flooding delays first day (wchstv.com) — Flooding in eastern Kanawha County has pushed the first day of school for Riverside High and nine other schools to Monday, Aug. 24, giving families more time to recover. City street worker thankful he could help woman floating in car on Garrison Avenue (wchsnetwork.com) — A Charleston city street worker is being praised after he waded into fast-rising floodwater on Garrison Avenue to pull a woman from her floating car and guide her to safety. The rescue, which even had the mayor worried for his safety, came during a long overnight shift as crews battled flooding across the city.
3. Charleston area flood victims continue cleanup and damage assessments (wchstv.com) — Flood cleanup is still underway in Charleston neighborhoods like Garrison Avenue and Pacific Street, where damaged roads, culverts, and homes show the impact of last weekend's high water. 4.
