• Charleston to bid Capitol Connector in weeks, aims to start construction this fall (wchstv.com) — Kanawha Boulevard in Charleston, from Magic Island to the 35th Street Bridge, is set for a major overhaul that will narrow traffic lanes and significantly widen sidewalks and bike space. City officials expect to put the Capitol Connector project out to bid within weeks, aiming to start construction this fall and leverage about $1.5 million in city funds into roughly $27 million in federal investment.

• Morrisey orders West Virginia flags to half-staff for 25th anniversary of 9/11 (wvnews.com) — From Charleston, Gov. Patrick Morrisey has ordered U.S. and West Virginia flags at state facilities to fly at half-staff on Sept. 11 to mark the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. He's also asking residents to observe a moment of silence at 8:46 a.m. and has proclaimed the date as Patriot Day and a National Day of Service and Remembrance across the state.
