Coplin Health Systems expands community commitment (newsandsentinel.com) — A new partnership between Coplin Health Systems and the Caperton Center for Applied Technology at WVU Parkersburg aims to give local students hands-on exposure to healthcare and technical careers. Through the Chamber's Partner In Education program, Parkersburg-area businesses will provide mentorship, guest speakers, and real-world learning that can feed directly into high-demand jobs across Wood County and surrounding communities.
   

2. Band of the Week: Parkersburg South High School (wtap.com) — Parkersburg South High School's 95-member marching band is gearing up for its new "Rock Symphony" field show, blending Rachmaninoff with Kiss for football games and competitions. With about 30 freshmen, a revived six-member majorette line, and an energized color guard, students say the live-music experience and fresh visuals are transforming how the band looks and feels this fall.
   

3. Kesselring honored for decades of Red Cross service (newsandsentinel.com) — A longtime American Red Cross leader based in Parkersburg is retiring after more than 36 years of disaster response, blood drives, and volunteer support across the Ohio River Valley. Local colleagues praised Sharon Kesselring's work on major crises, including the Peoples Cartage fire in Parkersburg, while she plans to spend her first year of retirement focusing on family before stepping back into any Red Cross role.
   

4. USDA announces approval for D-SNAP for West Virginia disaster areas (wtap.com) — From Parkersburg, federal officials have announced temporary D-SNAP food assistance for residents in Lewis, Pleasants, Ritchie, and Upshur counties recovering from recent severe storms. About 900 households may qualify for one month of benefits, with in-person applications accepted Sept. 21–25 and more details to come through local media and the 2-1-1 helpline.
