1. URA transfers property ownership to City of Parkersburg (newsandsentinel.com) — Parkersburg's Urban Renewal Authority has transferred a Market Street property to the city so officials can pursue a federal EPA Brownfields Cleanup Grant to address asbestos, lead paint, mold, and other hazards. If funded, the city would oversee a multi-year cleanup, then return ownership to the URA, potentially paving the way for future reuse of the downtown building.
   

2. Parkersburg kicks off fall season with annual Harvest Moon Festival (wtap.com) — Parkersburg families can head to City Park this weekend for the long-running Harvest Moon Festival, featuring kid-friendly activities, live music, and dozens of local craft and food vendors. Organizers expect more than 2,000 attendees, giving residents a chance to celebrate fall and support Mid-Ohio Valley artisans and small businesses close to home.
   

3. Local National Merit scholarship semifinalists announced (newsandsentinel.com) — Two Parkersburg High and two Parkersburg South seniors have been named National Merit Scholarship semifinalists, placing them among the top-scoring students nationwide. Along with peers from Ripley and Athens, they'll now complete applications, essays, and testing steps for a chance at part of $24 million in scholarships to be awarded next spring.
   

4. Constellium makes Top 5 in cool things made in WV (mariettatimes.com) — From Parkersburg, you're getting a front-row seat to a statewide shout-out for West Virginia manufacturing, as Jackson County's Constellium plant makes the top five in a new "Coolest Thing Made in West Virginia" contest. Their aluminum alloys help power NASA's Artemis missions, and the final winner will be announced Oct. 2 on National Manufacturing Day.
