Ghion Road closed after an accident Friday afternoon (wtap.com) — Gihon Road in Parkersburg was temporarily closed Friday afternoon after a single-vehicle crash knocked down a utility pole and power lines, though no injuries were reported. The closure, expected to last several hours, forced Wood County Schools to reroute buses 246 and 258 while multiple local agencies responded and crews worked to restore service and reopen the road.
   

2. Smoot pretties itself for 100th anniversary (newsandsentinel.com) — Smoot Theatre in downtown Parkersburg is getting a fresh look as union apprentices refinish its mahogany entrance doors ahead of the landmark's 100th anniversary celebration this month. The work, done through a local apprenticeship program, includes cleaning, sanding, staining, and painting, with more upgrades like dressing room painting possibly coming next year.

4. West Virginia governor announces funds for state parks, including Blennerhassett Island (newsandsentinel.com) — Blennerhassett Island Historical State Park near Parkersburg is set to receive $300,000 to replace its aging service barge and tugboat, a critical link for getting supplies and equipment to the island.
