• Veterans Day parade set to return to Washington Avenue in Parkersburg (wtap.com) — Parkersburg's Veterans Day Parade is returning to Washington Avenue on Monday, Nov. 11, running from Parkersburg High School to City Park for a ceremony. Residents can watch for free, sponsor $25 flags carried by local cadets, or apply by Oct. 27 to enter a float or unit in this long-running tribute to area veterans.
   

• Lights Out: Holiday in the Park group dissolving (newsandsentinel.com) — Holiday in the Park, the nonprofit behind Parkersburg City Park's longtime light display, is dissolving after tensions with some city officials and dwindling volunteers. Two remaining leaders say displays will stay stored for now, and could return if a new volunteer group steps up, while remaining assets must eventually go to another charitable organization.
