• Ripley CC hosts meet at Jackson County Fairgrounds (wvnews.com) — A Spencer middle school runner, Killian Taylor, claimed first place in the boys race at the Ripley Cross Country Invitational held at the Jackson County Fairgrounds. The meet drew about 28 teams and 200 runners, with Ripley's middle school squads sweeping team titles and several area athletes turning in strong individual performances across boys and girls divisions.
   

• Carl J. 'Junbug' Blosser Jr. Obituary (ridgeviewnews.com) — Spencer is mourning the loss of 56-year-old Carl J. "Junbug" Blosser Jr., who passed away September 24 at Roane General Hospital. Born and raised in Spencer, he worked in sawmills, loved the outdoors, and leaves behind children, siblings, extended family, and friends; burial details at Smith Cemetery will be announced later, with Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home handling arrangements.
